This year has proved to be difficult for all; whether it’s losing a job, feeling isolated, or losing a loved one, 2020 has been the year of change and isolation. Depression rates have proliferated, and social media’s effects have been more damaging to the mind. Social media’s intention was to provide society greater convenience and connectivity. However, it has also catalyzed detrimental psychological side effects to thousands of users.
We live in a time where it’s hard not to compare ourselves to others online, especially with platforms such as Instagram or TikTok. The number of likes, followers, etc. can make it feel like our accounts might be less successful than other ones. This issue is prevalent in the creative community. Due to the heavy effects of social media, many creatives might feel discouraged to share or feel insecure about their work due to self doubt or self-critical comparisons.
ArtisHaus is a new platform that aims to diminish this issue, in order to encourage artists to share and connect. This creative platform removes the aspect of likes, comments, & notifications, reflecting the function of a website portfolio. This way, creatives of all kinds will feel encouraged to share their work and ultimately connect with other artists or designers. Not only does ArtisHaus benefit the user’s mental health, but allows creatives to feel more confident about their work. We are living in a critical time where it’s important to uplift each other so we all feel motivated to keep working. ArtisHaus stands as a safe haven for all creatives to create, share, discover, and connect.

ArtisHaus Messaging Interface
Social networking is an integral part of modern-day designers’ professional lives. ArtisHaus combines a captive audience with a quick and easy method of sharing visual content. This provides an avenue to potential new clients and collaborative projects for creatives to further their portfolios. ArtisHaus’s messaging portal is the main way for creatives to gain feedback on their work. Not only does this take away the need for likes and comments, but it makes feedback more personal and appreciative. There is also a groups tab in the messaging section where people can form together to create group messages to connect further than just one-on-one interactions.
